OUR HISTORY

King of Glory Church Of God In Christ was organized in August of 2016. Upon the dissolution of King Temple Church Of God In Christ. A church building along with 13.57 acers were donated to the new congregation.

King Temple had served as a beacon in the community since its inception in 1937 which began as a revival that was conducted by Mother Kattie King and Mother Fannie Page. Many souls were saved as a result of the revival. In that same year Brother Coney Williams built a mission for the people to worship. Mother Kattie King served as leader of the growing flock until 1948 at which time a church was built and Bishop A. B. McEwen appointed Elder James Harvell from Mason, Tennessee to organize the group into a congregation and serve as Pastor The congregation was named Rossville #2 Church Of God In Christ.

Superintendent Henry Spight followed Elder Harvell in August of 1966 and the church was renamed to King Temple in honor of Mother Katie King. In 1977 the late Bishop J. O. Patterson, Sr. appointed Elder Bennie Crutchfield, Jr to serve as Pastor of King Temple.

In July 2015 Elder Bennie Crutchfield, Jr. resigned as pastor and at his request, Superintendent Dickerson Wells was appointed Interim Pastor by Bishop Felton Smith, Jr. The church progressed during the interim leadership of Superintendent Wells. In June 2016, Bishop Smith returned to the church to address the matter of permanent Pastoral leadership. Bishop Smith honored the request of the congregation and appointed Dickerson Wells as Pastor of King Temple during the 62nd Annual Holy Convocation of Tennessee Eastern First Jurisdiction on June 24, 2016 in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Easter Sunday April, 21, 2019 was that day of celebration for King of Glory Church Of God In Christ in Rossville, TN. The congregation broke ground on Phase One of their new structure which would be home to their new sanctuary, Christian Education and administrative facilities, multi-purpose fellowship hall and more. King of Glory Church continues to advance. The young congregation is active in the community touching, transforming and blessing humanity through its community events and ministries.

Phase Two of the project will be The Family Life Center. We take no credit for what the King of Glory has done, “being confident of this, that He who began a good work… will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6
